For many years, APPF Incorporated has been regarded as the radio frequency sealing experts of Orange County. Here, in our state-of-the-art, 52,000 square foot manufacturing plant, we create all kinds of products, including medical bags for IV fluids, urine, and other bodily fluid collection bags. The demand for these bags is booming, and few RF sealing companies are equipped with the facilities, technologies, and processes that it takes to meet this growing demand. Proudly, APPF Incorporated is fit for any size RF sealing job.
APPF Incorporated routinely works with the medical, military, and automobile industries, in addition to a wide sector of industry types. NASA, the US Navy, the Australian Navy, the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency, and John Hopkins are just a few of the brand names you probably recognize that we fabricate products for. Since APPF Incorporated is trusted by these industry leaders, we believe that you can trust us, too.
What is Radio Frequency Sealing?
RF technology is nothing new. In fact, it has been around for close to a century already. Yet, fewer companies have been able to automate and streamline the process better than APPF Incorporated does. Whether you need medical bags, inflatable devices, LAMS, wallets, plastic raincoats, swimming pool liners, tents, awnings, or even automotive products, APPF Incorporated can provide a customized solution for you.
Radiofrequency sealing is used in the medical industry to seal together materials like PVC, EVA, Saran, and polyurethane to form pressure devices and containers for various uses. For example, medical bags for IV fluids, blood, chemotherapy, enema, ileostomy, and enteral feeding; all of these are made by APPF Incorporated with radio frequency sealing.
How Does RF Sealing Work?
RF sealing uses radio waves directed through two or more layers of plastic. Intense pressure causes molecules to heat up and combine for a more durable seal. Once the seal is complete, the RF energy is turned off, and the tooling keeps the materials together while they cool under pressure. The resulting seal is actually stronger than the materials themselves.
The process of RF sealing is comparable to microwaving your food. In fact, it appears that RF sealing is partly responsible for the development of microwave ovens. Much the same as the microwaves will not heat up every material, neither will RF sealing work for all plastics. Not all plastics can be heated with radiofrequency. In fact, seeing if a plastic heats up in the microwave is a great way to determine if it is a good candidate for RF sealing.
How Well Does Radio Frequency Sealing?
At APPF Incorporated, each seal is tested for strength and quality. The strength of the RF weld depends on several factors, including the thickness of the materials used, the thickness of the weld, and the tooling layout. The quality of your seal will ultimately be determined by these factors. APPF Incorporated guarantees a consistent seal, clear or almost clear, smooth, and uniform in appearance.
